Graham and Associates is a law firm with a team of experienced professionals devoted exclusively to family law matters with the expertise and skill to achieve positive results for you.
Attorney Al Graham received a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Southwestern University in 1968 and has been engaged in the practice of law since that time. Commencing with a position as Deputy District Attorney and litigating various criminal law cases, including murder, he developed his trial and courtroom skills until his entry into private practice in 1972.
In 1983, Mr. Graham became recognized as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization and limited his practice exclusively to family law matters. Requirements of specialization include demonstration of adequate experience in family law matters and maintaining abreast of the law and the latest legal developments, both in case law and legislative changes. Mr. Graham has a team of experienced professionals who provide excellent support for the trial practice that a family law practice commands. Mr. Graham uses a number of computer programs to assist him in the family law practice in research and unique programs tailored to family law practitioners.
Mr. Graham served on two four-year terms on the Newport Beach Civil Service Board, the board of last resort for employee appeals prior to formal litigation. In serving as an appointed member of this 5 member board for a city of approximately 100,000, Mr. Graham was chairman for 3 years and takes pride in the board's record during those 8 years where zero appeals from that board proceeded to the courts, where both the city and the employee had the right to invoke an appeal.
In a similar manner, if a family law matter can be resolved by agreement, such should occur. On the other hand, where the reasonable agreement cannot be reached, resort should be made to the courts and Mr. Graham has the trial experience to invoke the court's assistance. As was pronounced in John F. Kennedy's inaugural address, "Never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate".
Mr. Graham served a three-year term on the Orange County Bar Association Board of Directors and chaired a committee both before his term and during that term.
Mr. Graham has had cases where represented clients published by the Court of Appeals. One of his cases regarding fraud committed during a marriage relationship commanded a review in People Magazine and an interview with news reporter Connie Chung on the television program "Eye to Eye." The same case generated telephone calls from New York, London and as faraway as Australia. He was the subject of a review of selected attorneys in a recent issue of Orange County Magazine. The Los Angeles Times and the Orange County Register have quoted him on various cases. One of his cases was the subject of an article in the Boston Globe.
Mr. Graham possesses over 35 years of legal experience and has been recognized by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in the area of family law for over 20 years. In 2003, the State Bar of California recognized him for having maintained credentials as a family law specialist for over 20 years.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Graham graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in 1959 and rendered service first to the Boeing Company on missile programs and then for 8 years with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on the Saturn/Apollo Lunar landing program.
Mr. Graham is married and has 5 adult children of which two followed his path being awarded law degrees and with experience in the legal field.
